The Challenge

Fault Line Theatre is an off broadway alternative theater that creates and produces socially relevant plays for today’s audiences. Fault Line Theatre is committed to creating a diverse artistic environment and give equal opportunities to its members and within the community. However, their brand identity felt dated and did not reflect the contemporary relevance of their work.

The Solution

With this campaign the goal was to establish a new brand identity that aligns with Fault Line Theatre’s core values of inclusivity and social impact. Drawing inspiration from protest sign’s bold typography, the new identity has a modern and striking feel that highlights the theater’s mission. The vibrating color palette intentionally creates a subtle provocation to further reinforce the nature of the topics being presented in the plays.

A Change of Perspective

In geology, a fault line is a planar fracture or discontinuity in a volume of rock where there has been significant displacement. In sociology, a fault line is a divisive issue or difference of opinion that is likely to have serious consequences. The logo reflects a displacement in the ground, and presents an optical illusion quality in the typography to reference the change of perspective that Fault Line Theater hopes to bring to its viewers.
